The Global Kidnap Review, 2016 rates Kenya as number 17 out of 19 under countries on High Threat in kidnapping crimes.The rising incidents of the crime of kidnapping in Kenya have raised serious security concerns among citizens in general and security agents in particular.
The most prevalent types of kidnappings were: kidnapping committed by a stranger; kidnapping committed by an acquaintance; being kidnapped and forced to withdraw money from an Automated Teller Machine; inside kidnapping and kidnapping committed by a family member.
